United Cinema Review

Editorial policy

United Cinema Review aims to make careful film writing clear, fair and checkable. We describe what a film shows or sounds like, distinguish that from our interpretation, and correct errors when they are identified.

Accuracy and interpretation

Factual statements are checked against reliable material where available. Interpretations are presented as readings, not settled facts; a scene can support more than one account. We avoid claims about a filmmaker’s intent unless the basis for them is clear and stated.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for readers, not to secure favourable treatment. A contribution or partnership does not buy a positive assessment, and any relevant relationship is disclosed alongside the material.

Corrections

Readers can send a correction through the Contact page. We review specific, checkable concerns and amend material when warranted, making significant changes clear to readers.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or partner material is labelled plainly so it can be distinguished from editorial work. Some illustrations on the site are AI-generated; they are illustrative and are not presented as documentary images.

Our point of view

Every frame has a point of view

We believe close attention makes films richer, not smaller. Start with what is on screen, then ask what each choice lets you notice.
